Being that I tragically hold an account on IMDB.com I took the liberty of sifting through the message board on Eragon to see what others thought of Sienna being casted as Arya. The opinions were generally positive. Of course, there is no escaping the idiotic comments such as, "Oh I think Lucy Liu/Keira Knightly/Kate Beckinsale/Liv Tyler would have been a better choice, but Miss Guillory is quite fine." Positive, yet patronizing. There's a lot of that. Though, I'm going to be optimistic and glad that people are generally okay with Sienna starring as Arya.
Then there's people who actually don't understand that beauty is subjective (There's several good examples of this on amazon.com for Sienna in Helen of Troy also). These are the kind of people that leave those agitatingly long and insignifcant reviews that rate movies as average simply because they couldn't spy their way around their own lustful preferences.
Back to all the dull choices for women to be casted as Arya over Sienna Guillory, there were actually just as bad and maybe even worse choices for other characters. There's a topic in which one person honestly believes Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) could play Eragon. Good that people can only know these actors as one-dimensional heroes.
Then someone believes Johnny Depp would be a good Brom based on the role he played as Capt. Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean.
And naturally there was the choice for Kiera Knightly, as I mentioned already. Aren't these people satisfied enough with the poor choice to sequalize Pirates of the Caribbean?
It's like...We don't want more substance, more originality, and less cliches than the book already had. Not that it's a terrible read.
Well, that's your typical opinion research (based on the imdb boards) brought to you typically by that other moderator that rarely makes topics. :p

Of course, I don't think Eragon being released as a movie so early is such a good idea. It really has to come out as quite impressive (and it's a trilogy on top of that) to ride the surf caused by Lord of the Rings and even the Harry Potter movies still going on.

I do believe people will inevitably compare it to LOTR and HP a lot though. Simply because it's of the same genre.

I do hope the movie does good though. It should. It's not an unpopular book, and the only people that disliked it really were the ones who couldn't get over the fact that...there really isn't a whole lot of originality to the book. I still am actually enjoying this book a lot. And I plan to buy The Eldest tomorrow when I go school shopping.
